Sync FriendFeed Comments With DISQUS

Our DISQUS community member Carter Rabasa has been quite busy in his free time. His most recent creation is a web application called “FF2Disqus” which allows you to sync your DISQUS comments with FriendFeed.

Find it here: ff2disqus.appspot.com

Getting Started!

First, connect to DISQUS:

  • Click (need your key?)
  • Copy the API Key
  • Paste it in the User API key field.
  • Click the Get Sites button (this collects a list of all your DISQUS forums)
  • Choose the site you want to sync

Connecting Friend Feed:

  • Click (need remotekey?)
  • You will be directed to

  • Copy and Paste each into the proper fields.
  • Choose from four options:
    1. FF→Disqus
    2. Disqus→FF
    3. Full Sync
    4. Off
Note: you can stop the syncing process at any time by selecting “Off”
  • Click Save Info.
And that’s all there is to it! Be sure to stop by Carter’s blog and thank him for his hard work.

  • Excellent tool!!

    Doing even more integration......

    ;)
  • it said it synced, but I see no change. frankly this feature could be the twitterfeed of friendfeed... creating many chaos opportunities. It might be a better idea to design something like this with less options... that is if it worked
  • Cool! Works like a charm.

No luck for me - I can set it up and when I save settings it has a dialog that says ok and some text appears with the ping URL but nothing at the bottom of the page and when I ping I always get an empty array "[]" on the returning page.

Anyone tried this on a tumblr blog? I have a tumblr blog set up on my own domain.

  • I tried and it does not work unfortunately, the get services button after Friendfeed credentials remains grey and un clickable....
  • cool!
  • Select any DISQUS-site you have from the DISQUS pull-down first. The Friendfeed button will activate afterwards.

I encountered it as well and I tabbed from the beginning.

    Hope that helps ^^

  • I'me getting the same problem.
  • Oooh I've managed to get it to work now.
  • Cool! Works like a charm.
  • I experienced the same problem but pressed Get Sites again and reselected my blog and all synced now! :)

  • It's working for me. After I did a full sync, I am now only syncing from FF to Disqus.

There's no good reason to sync from Disqus to FF, as FF already tracks Disqus discussions.

If you're signed up on Intense Debate and it's watching your site, you'll want to shut down the FriendFeed integration there before you attempt a full sync through Carter's tool.

It works pretty well. It would be nice if you can support this guy and integrate the service in disqus core itself.

    Hello,
This is great ...it’s very effective.
Thanks a lot for this ..
  • very nice thanx
  • Is this the ONLY way to integrate friendfeed with Disqus. I had thought Disqus has been working on a friendfeed connection within its core for some time. I guess if this works then fine, but if this is built into the core I'd rather go that route.

Well this FF2Disqus is very time consuming as we are running towards fastest and competitive age where people are lacking patience so we need such things that could be done within no time.. But your provisioning of “ping” is really effective..
