A Few Things For Thursday

Happy Thursday, friends. Here’s a few new (and short) things we wanted to point out.

  • For comments where a down arrow will not suffice, you can now allow people to explicitly flag inappropriate comments. It looks something like this:

    Toggle this under Access & Moderators.

  • If you would like to disable the short excerpt of your blog post from appearing on your Disqus community page, you can now toggle that under Extras.

  • Our pals at joomlaworks have released a Disqus plugin for the Joomla! CMS.

  • Clickpass, the service we use to power our OpenID support, has made some updates. You can now log into Disqus with other accounts such as Google and Facebook. You can see the new button on the login page:

    I like that you guys are working with the details. But as jangro pointed out I really hope that you very soon will come out with a new API/plugin and specially work with the importing of old comments :D ...

    ohh BTW.. now when I am remembering it .. what about adding a Twitter like @ replay so that when I referee to what jangro is saying I could also by that link to his profil or comment with the @ ;D

  • As long as the @ doesn't show postprocess, it sounds like an excellent suggestion. Similar to the user tag some forums use.

  • Very cool. The next step for clickpass integration is to include it directly on the "add new comment" UI for non-signed-in users, so they can smoothly add comments with an OpenID, even if they've never used Disqus before. ;)
  • I'm with Joseph. Clickpass is a step in the right direction, but it really could be a whole lot easier.
    Most users (who aren't signed in) will enter their blog URL. Why not see if it is OpenID enabled?
  • It doesn't mean they don't plan on implementing it, just because it isn't in yet. =)

    But I am sure the crew appreciates the complimentary notion of them being able to implement features almost instantaneously, had they wanted to do so initially.
  • Open ID is an awesome addition. Will it pull an image/avatar if you have one linked to the open ID on your account?
