Earning trust

Hi everyone,

This is a quick Friday post to acknowledge certain concerns and questions about using a service like Disqus to handle a vital component of your blog. We want everyone to know that we understand how important comments and discussion is to a website. In fact, this is exactly why Disqus exists.

I intend to go into more detail soon. We’re happy to be working on something that makes bloggers excitedly eager to buzz about, and we fully intend to earn your trust every step of the way.

    Let me tell you one thing ... I belive more and more bloggers who are using blogspot in Taiwan start to migrate Disqus into blogspot.
    I post an article about Disqus before 5 months ago(I wrote some emails to you and ask some questions, did you remember?), and now, some people left messages in my blog, and they said they will try to use Disqus(http://chiting.disqus.com/_bloggerdisqus/). They also wrote some articles about Disqus: http://edumeme.blogspot.com/2008/05/disqus.html, http://01mistery.blogspot.com/2008/04/blogger-d....
    Yes! you do well, and develop good functions for bloggers. Thank you very much~~~

    I cannot speak Chinese (my ethnicity is Vietnamese, though
    unfortunately I cannot speak that either).
  • I think we should see the DISQUS comments as a new web site. The community forums we create for our blogs gets indexed by Google and have PageRanks. So I think we get something back from all comments created.
    We can all link to the community pages on our blogs as the blogs forums. That way it's even looks like an extension of the actual blog itself.

  • What's your business plan to keep Disqus from "going away" and taking my comments with it?

    What's your backup plan? Off-site? Tape retention time frame? Do you have multiple geographically separate datacenters with a full failover contingency in place?

I quite enjoy the features and versatility of Disqus (though I'm not so fond of the fact that I lose pointed every time I post on a thread and a stranger who isn't on Disqus votes me does because I didn't agree with them) and what to make certain it is available well into the future.

  • Added Disqus about 1 1/2 weeks back, after seeing it work on LifeDev.net ... now I see it on Leoville also. You're doing something right.
  • I installed it about 2 weeks ago and I won't go back. This is a great service and I can't wait to see what happens next. Now, if I could just get the rest of my blogger buddies to jump on, thinks would be great.

    Comments are as precious as diamonds to me. It serves as a reminder and a way to improve for the better. Hence, without a good commenting system, with good speed and performance, will definitely be disaster for me.

    Hi Would like to voice out my suggestions to what other improvements you all can have. I realised that the Disqus homepage once we logged in. Only show the number of pages we have for our comments but it didn't state how many comments are there! I don't its difficult to implement and its useful for me.Thanks

    Most of the features that Disqus pushed out are all with a wow factor to it. Nothing are a waste of effort and mostly are stuffs that I've never thought of and seriously felt that its very useful. Will be waiting eagerly for more to come!
